monday.com collects sales tax across 20 jurisdictions, citing the Wayfair ruling as its legal basis, at a combined state-and-local rate of 5-9 percent, and states plainly that the amount is non-refundable. Asana publishes no comparable list of taxed states; it names only two exemption routes, a form for New York and an affidavit for Colorado. Both vendors’ terms place the tax burden on the customer regardless of which one actually publishes a map of it. Scope compared, criterion by criterion. Checked 7 September 2026.

monday.com charges sales tax in twenty jurisdictions, nineteen states plus the District of Columbia, and cites the Wayfair ruling directly as its legal basis. Asana’s own terms place the tax burden on the customer too, but publish no list of which states it actually taxes.
monday.com’s combined state-and-local rate runs from five to nine percent depending on jurisdiction, and the company states the charge is non-refundable. Asana offers no equivalent rate range anywhere in the pages tested.
What Asana does publish is narrower than a state list: a form for New York and an affidavit for Colorado, naming only how to be excused from the tax, never which states apply it in the first place.
monday.com’s terms place the burden on the customer and offer no calculation for the customer’s own sales; Asana’s terms do the same. Transparency about the vendor’s own tax differs sharply between the two; what each leaves the customer to work out alone does not.
monday.com names its own “US Data Region,” run by AWS with no city or region code given, and claims SOC 1, 2, and 3, ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, 27032, and 27701, HIPAA, CCPA, and TX-RAMP in its own name; FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and GovCloud are absent from that list, and its HIPAA Business Associate Agreement is available on Enterprise only, lost again on downgrade. Asana claims a FedRAMP Moderate “authorized” status for Asana Gov that its own help article states more cautiously, and its privacy page and Trust Center page disagree on whether the United States even appears among its data centers.
monday.com states fifteen interface languages in total, English listed as a single entry with no US or UK variant and no partial translation flagged anywhere. Asana cannot say the same about its own count: one of its help pages lists fourteen languages, another lists thirteen, the difference being Bahasa Indonesia.
