Notion states its US hosting location precisely, US-West-2 in Oregon; ClickUp names only its cloud provider, AWS, and says region choice includes the US without naming a city or region code. Both gate that regional choice, and the HIPAA Business Associate Agreement, behind the Enterprise plan at no added cost. Neither vendor’s own certification should be read as its AWS host’s: Notion lists SOC 2 Type II under its own name while crediting AWS only for physical security, and ClickUp holds its own SOC 1, 2, and 3 apart from the SOC 2 Type II that AWS holds as host. Scope compared, criterion by criterion. Checked 7 September 2026.

Notion names its US hosting location as US-West-2, Oregon, a specific data center. ClickUp’s own pages name only the cloud provider, AWS, and describe region choice as including the United States without ever naming a city or a region code.
Notion gates workspace migration behind Enterprise, and includes its HIPAA Business Associate Agreement at that same tier at no added cost. ClickUp gates region choice, including the United States, behind Enterprise at no added cost as well, and reserves its own HIPAA agreement for that plan too.
Notion lists SOC 2 Type II and the ISO 27001 family of certifications under its own name, crediting AWS only for physical security. ClickUp holds its own SOC 1, 2, and 3 certifications, separately from the SOC 2 Type II that AWS itself holds as host; FedRAMP, StateRAMP, and GovCloud are absent from both vendors’ pages.
Notion publishes twenty-two interface languages, with American English as the plain “English” entry and English (GB) listed apart, no partial translation or excluded screen mentioned. ClickUp’s own Help Center lists seven interface languages while its vendor FAQ gives a different list that adds Portugal Portuguese, with neither page flagging partial translation.
Notion charges US sales tax in twenty-seven jurisdictions, twenty-four states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Chicago, based on customer address, with exemption available on a valid certificate. ClickUp charges sales tax across nineteen named states, the District of Columbia, Chicago, and Puerto Rico, based on the checkout address, with exemption not automatic.
Notion’s self-service checkout takes card and Apple Pay, with no in-app payment on Android; invoicing is reserved for Enterprise, above one hundred employees, and net-30, purchase orders, ACH, and a W-9 are published nowhere. ClickUp’s self-service takes card only, excluding prepaid cards and PayPal; bank transfer opens at Enterprise, above a minimum the vendor does not quantify, and the word ACH never appears on its pages either.
